Heel Problems

Heel problems are extremely common. They can be the result of excessive physical activity, an injury or even being overweight. However, the two most common causes of heel pain include Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis.

Heel Problems

The good news is, it is quite easy to determine which issue is causing the pain based on location. Generally, if the pain is beneath the heel, it will likely be a case of plantar fasciitis. If the pain is found in the back portion of the heel, toward the Achilles base or in the Achilles, then it is most likely Achilles tendinitis.

Plantar fasciitis is, by far, the most common cause of heel pain. The plantar fascia is the alignment that connects the heel to the toes and provides support for the foot. When pain occurs, it is because this portion of tissue has become inflamed or irritated. In most cases, the heel pain will be at its worse in the morning or after rest when a person suffers from plantar fasciitis.
